This piece is from the opera "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", which is inspired from a tale of a poem with the same name from Aleksandr Pushkin. First performed in 1900 in Moscow, it is the most well known piece of the opera; the "Flight of the Bumblebee" is from the 3. movement.
