Paul Hofhaimer, a native Austrian composer of the Renaissance, was a colleague of Heinrich Isaac and organist-composer at the Viennese court of Emperor Maximilian I. Many of his vocal output was German Lieder with lyrical melodies and relatively simple harmonies. This song however with its more complex interplay between the upper voices is more akin to the works of his Franco-Flemish contemporaries. The theme is one of courtly love and the worship by a lonely young gallant for a noble lady.

The original MIDI file was compiled by Allen Garvin and uploaded to CPDL.org. I used the Kevin voice bank in Synthesizer V to generate the voices. The instrumental sounds were generated with an iPhone app Music Studio 2. Reverb and echo were added using Audacity.
