_oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya_ is known as the _dvādaśākṣara_-mantra. This is a twelve-syllable mantra for worshipping Lord Krishna. Devotees chant this mantra, and it begins with omkara.

The meaning of the mantra is, "I offer my respectful obeisances to Lord Vāsudeva, or Krishna."
In this age of Kali-yuga, we can attain spiritual perfection by developing our love for Krishna by chanting His holy name.
