Here's a live recording from July, 1984 of guitar phenomenon Lenny Breau playing "Stella By Starlight" accompanied by a young John Patitucci( who also takes an extended solo) on bass and Ted Hawke on drums. This is a beautiful rendition of this standard, and Lenny sounds masterful on his custom made 7 string guitar. Only a month after this performance Lenny was found dead in his swimming pool. It was soon determined that he had been murdered by strangulation, but sadly the perpertrator was never caught and convicted due to lack of evidence. The case was recently reopened though, and hopefully the cold blooded killer who committed this heinous crime and robbed this wonderful human being and musician of his life and left his family and the music world in mourning will be brought to justice!
