Probably the most successful and archetypal novelty record of all time, this was number 1 in the UK charts for 3 weeks in 1981. It actually reached the top spot in about a dozen countries, including Australia where it stayed for 8 weeks.
In addition to that, it was a success in many more countries and was released in several languages. Since then it has been much covered and parodied.
It's worthy of inclusion here, though I can't really fathom why it was quite SO popular! Funny nonetheless....
