Description
A raunchy night-club comedian known as the 'King of Party Records' became a household name and a beloved tv star thanks to Yorkin/Lear's 'Sanford and Son' (1972). Redd Foxx played the cantankerous junk dealer; Demond Wilson was his son Lamont. Based on a British sitcom ('Steptoe and Son') it ran for six years (five of them ranking in the top ten) and only ended because ABC offered Foxx a substantial sum to headline a variety show ('Redd Foxx'). It lasted two episodes. The theme for 'Sanford and Son' is by Quincy Jones and is called 'The Streetbeater'. It stayed the same through all six seasons.
