From 6 December, 1981
I always preferred this, Don Smithers' characteristic performance of Gottfried Reiche's "Abblasen" on ventless baroque trumpet, to any other. The Marsalis version is too clean and too facile to feel authentic. I also most preferred Charles Kuralt as host. He WAS this show. There don't seem to be any other videos of just this-- the superior version of the opening of the show--so I wanted to try to put one out there.
