Description
Track 10 from their eleventh studio album "Where It All Begins” copyright 1994 Sony Music. The album was recorded live in the studio and achieved Gold status in 1997. This would be the last studio album to feature original member Dickey Betts. Shortly after the release of the live album "Peakin' At The Beacon" in 2000, he was asked by the other members to leave until he cleaned up his act. He had been increasingly difficult to work with due to his attitude and level of substance abuse. Feeling unfairly treated, he sued the band, making the split permanent, and received an undisclosed cash settlement. Written by Gregg Allman, Jonathan Cain & Neil Schon and produced by Tom Dowd. RIP Tom Dowd, Allen Woody, Butch Trucks, Gregory Lenoir Allman & Dickey Betts. Featuring:
Gregg Allman – Lead vocals, Hammond B-3 organ & piano
Dickey Betts – Lead vocals, lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars
Warren Haynes – Lead vocals, lead, slide & rhythm guitars & background vocals
Allen Woody – Bass & background vocals
Jai Johanny Johanson – Drums, percussion & background vocals
Butch Trucks – Drums, percussion & background vocals
Marc Quinones – Congas & percussion
Like the hopeful dreams of many he had everything and more
A lovely wife and children, all the things worth fighting for
He knows there was still, still something missing in his life
Though he promised to be faithful he was good at telling lies
He had an eye for young girls, he would steal some on the side
Oh no, he just could not be satisfied
It's a game of all or nothin', there is nowhere safe to run
Someone might just pull the trigger 'cause temptation is a gun
He met her at a night club on the other side of town
Somehow he could not resist her, she's the best he's ever found
She knew she found her ticket to the other side
It's a game of all or nothin, there is nowhere safe to run
Someone might just pull the trigger, temptation is a gun
His foolish ways seem harmless but his world will soon divide
'Cause at home they know his secrets, they've heard all his alibis
As he tries to face his feelings he can't justify his crimes
Now comes the final ending of the dreams he once held sacred deep inside
He can kiss it all goodbye
It's a game of all or nothin', there is nowhere safe to run
Someone might just pull the trigger 'cause temptation is a gun
Oh
Mmm, oh, baby
Ah, temptation is a gun, yeah
Temptation is a gun
All or nothing, all or nothing
